Totech Super Dry low humidity desiccant cabinets protect a wide range of products against defects caused by humidity. Designed to exceed IPC/JEDEC J-Std-033C, Super Dry Desiccant Cabinets can dehumidify to less than 0.5% RH. This qualifies them not only for unlimited safe storage, but also means they can safely remove moisture, thus resetting floor life without oxidation, even at ambient temperatures.

A critical performance parameter of any desiccant cabinet is Recovery Time. Recovery Time is the ability of the cabinet to return to set point after a door opening. Many cabinets can claim to achieve 3% or 1% RH but the average achieved over the course of one or multiple shifts is affected by the frequency of door openings and the cabinet’s recovery time capability.
Storage and Drying
All devices of the MSL-Classes 2a – 5a can be stored for an indefinite period at a water vapor level less than 1.9 g/m³ (5%RH) per IPC/JEDEC-J-STD- 033C . When more moisture is drawn from the surrounding air, the vapor pressure difference rises such that the water molecules in the components overcome their adhesion force and the moisture is released. The components are thereby dried. The drying speed is strongly dependent on the vapor pressure differential. The lower the pressure in the storage atmosphere, the faster moisture is withdrawn from
the wet components and circuit boards. Super Dry systems achieve an atmosphere of less than 0.5 % RH at room temperature and produce a “moisture vacuum” at a vapor level of less than 0.05 g/m³. This leads to a strong “revertive” drying effect, as the previously assimilated moisture is released. This is very protective of the devices, because they are not subjected to thermal stress and thus prevent oxidation or intermetallic growth. Low temperature Heat (40C-60C) can be added to accelerate the drying time.
